Good Enough To Eat-Or Wear!

Okay, so not strictly a style post but I thought I'd share one of my latest mum triumphs- homemade ice lollies. There is a little bit of fashion in here somewhere - I promise.
Not sure about other mummy's out there but weaning has been possibly one of the trickiest trials to overcome in my new job. I've read all the books (honest, I've got them all), downloaded the apps, stolen tried and tested recipes from my lovely yoga mums (my mum gang from pregnancy yoga, who have just been the best for much needed support and tips since Luna arrived). But I still kinda feel that I'm failing at it most of the time, most of my offerings end up on the floor (or splattered against the wall) and to be honest I can't blame the kid, they never seem to look the same as they do in the pics...
So, you can imagine my delight when I totally nailed homemade lollies! I wanted to try the Raspberry & Watermelon Lollies from Annabel karmel's Baby & Toddler Meal Planner book but I didn't have all the ingredients for these (mum fail). What I did have, however, was a huge watermelon and some lovely oranges (Luna's fave) from our trip to the local organic farm, so I improvised.

Food shopping is a little different in Ibiza. I'd seen the sign for the Eco-Logical Organic Farm and decided we'd take a family trip to see what it was all about. We were not disappointed, delicious fruit and veg all grown on site in the most beautiful setting. We were greeted by the lovely David who showed us around the farm and picked us some fresh herbs to take home with our fresh box of chosen produce, sharing with us the history of the 700-year-old farm and how it runs - a little more fun than my usual trolley dash around Tesco.
With an outfit for every occasion, eco-farm shop dressing was a breeze for Luna, styling a cute broderie anglaise dress and gold gladiator sandals from Primark with a cute headband I bought from a shop on Ebay. I was sporting my New Look off the shoulder white beach tunic and silver mules from Primark. See, I told you there would be a little bit of fashion thrown in!

Now back to the recipe...
Luckily I had some lolly moulds that I picked up in Aldi a while back (and never got round to using). I started by cutting up the watermelon then using a fork to mash it through a sieve to get the juice out and keep the seeds out - i used around quarter of the melon. Then I squeezed two oranges and mixed the two juices together before pouring into the molds and freezing.

Luna loved them! Looks like I might get to eat my favourite magnum in peace from now on- yeah right!
